Geckos are reptile that live on all continents except Antartica. Most are nocturnal meaning they only come out in the night. But some are diurnal, a less common word meaning active during the day. Those that are diurnal mostly eat insects, fruits, and flower nectar.
Geckos have adapted very well to their environment. From deserts to rain forest they've done it. One especially cool adaptation has to do with their tails. When a predator grabs the Geckos tail sheds allowing them to escape while predator thinks they have its meal. The Geckos tail serves other purposes besides this amazing protection. It helps them balance, it stores fat to use as an extra fuel tank, and camouflage.
